State Police Investigate Car/Pedestrian Collision Involving 4 Year-old Child

(Hastings, NY - June 24, 2010)  -   On June 23, 2010, Members of the State Police in Hastings are investigated a Car/Pedestrian motor vehicle accident that occurred on County Route 11 in the Town of West Monroe.

The investigation revealed that at approximately 2:51PM, A 2005 Pontiac Grand AM operated by Richard C. Soule, 79 of Lacona, NY was traveling south on County Route 11 when 4 year-old Mason Miller entered the roadway from the east shoulder and continued to cross toward the west.  Soule attempted to avoid colliding with the child by moving to the right and slamming on his brakes but was unable.

Miller was treated at the scene by SOVAC Ambulance and West Monroe Fire Dept. personnel then subsequently air-lifted by Mercy Flight Helicopter to SUNY Upstate Medical Center where he is in stable condition and being treated for non- life threatening injuries.
